Information for Coaches
1) Registration will take place at the Holiday Inn, 205 Wolf Hill Road, Albany on Friday, April 4 from 12 - 2 pm. Failure to register your students could result in their being excluded from the tournament.
2) Registration fees are $12.00 per student. Duo, Public Forum, and Policy teams count as 2 students. Please make all checks payable to the New York State Forensic League. Payment must be made at the start of the tournament. Purchase orders are not acceptable form of payment.
3) There are no hired judges. You must be sure to have the required number of judges. Failure to have the requisite number of judges will result in fines and could result in the exclusion of your students from the tournament. Please be sure that your judges are experienced judges. The ratios are as follows:
Speech - 1 judge for every 5 speakers
LD - 1 judge for every 4 debaters
PF - 1 judge for every 4 teams
Policy - 1 judge for every two teams
Congress - Please designate one of your judges as a Congress judge. You do not need to bring extra judges to cover Congress
4) The tournament does not supply flow sheets, timers, etc. for judges.
5) All judges are expected to be available for the entire tournament, even after a school has been eliminated from the Tournament. Judges who fail to show up for rounds will incur fines. These fines must be paid before a school can compete next year.
6) A schedule is posted. Speech, Student Congress, and Policy Debate will take place at Albany High School. LD and PF will take place at Livingston Middle School.
7) Copies of the ballots are available online. Coaches can see these ballots to be sure that they know the rules for the tournament.
