Constitutional Amendment Concerning Voting Rights for Resident Ali
1: Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
2: United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each
3: House concurring therein) That the following article is proposed as an
4: amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be
5: valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when
6: ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States
7: within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:
8: Article I: The right of legal aliens residing in the United States to
9: vote shall not be abridged or denied by the United States or by
10: any State due to their status as legal aliens.
11: Article II: A resident alien eligible to vote shall be defined as any
12: legal alien who is treated as a resident alien for tax purposes by the
13: IRS.
14 : Article III: The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article
15 : by appropriate legislation.
